Quote from:

June 3, 2009 - Hot on the heels of IGN's exclusive chat with Ryan Reynolds about the Deadpool movie comes word of the other Marvel mutants the star would like to have appear in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine spin-off.

Reynolds informed MTV that the chances of seeing time-traveling mutant Cable, a character that he previously mentioned he'd like to see in the film, aren't that great after all. (The two characters got their own team-up book, Cable & Deadpool, which lasted 50 issues.) "We'll see. That is all being discussed," Reynolds said. "I'm hoping Cable will be in it. Look, I've made no secret that I love that character."

Reynolds was more optimistic, however, about two other X-Men characters appearing: the villains Ajax and Black Tom Cassidy. "I also love some of the more preliminary characters at the beginning of the series. I like Ajax — that's an easier character to put in. And Black Tom," he said. "I think there's a lot of different villains [we're considering]; you could do a whole bunch of villains in [the first film], or could just have Deadpool going up against one guy. We'll see."

I wonder if the people making the film really care what Ryan Reynold's opinion is. The lead actor normally isn't involved like this.

it'll be interesting to see how true to the comics the movie stays considering how hard reynolds is pushing for absolute fidelity! he has to make sure this movie doesn't suck...it'll never be as good as his wife's though.

More news on Deadpool movie from Ryan Reynolds....

Die-hard X-Men fans had a lot to complain about with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but nothing was as irritating as the treatment of Deadpool, the character played brilliantly by Ryan Reynolds but essentially shoved to the sidelines while Wolverine and Sabretooth clawed at each other the whole time.

We've known for a while that Reynolds would star as Deadpool in his own spin-off movie, but now, as he does press for the upcoming romantic comedy The Proposal, Reynolds is making big promises about how the character will be treated. Apparently Reynolds is not just a star, but a serious creative partner as well. "I’m such a huge fan of the character. [...] I get to be the authentication police, in a weird way. To their credit — the studio’s credit — they want to make an authentic Deadpool movie; they want to make it as close to the source material as possible.”

And Reynolds is backing up that promise with some details. "“He’s going to be the Merc with the Mouth, [we’re going to give] all those answers that everyone wants. He’s going to have the scarred-up face, he’s going to be in the suit — and, it’s going to be incredible.”

Should we trust this guy? Uh, maybe. Reynolds really does seem dedicated to the character, and definitely has a lot invested in making his big starring superhero debut as good as possible. But then again, Fox learned with Wolverine that you can do essentially whatever you want with a character and still make bank. We've speculated that, with their attempts to get Ridley Scott back for the Alien prequel, Fox might be moving in a more character-friendly, director-driven direction. If Ryan Reynolds and his X-Men fandom are really helping make that happen, then we'll all be better off for it.

Dane Cook. Am I the only one who gets him confused with Ryan Reynolds?

Well no, if those two crossed paths or looked at each other it would destroy the universe.

Casting is always hard. Perhaps Jeremy Renner from The Hurt Locker and 28 Weeks Later.

Dependng on how far into the deadpool story you get I could see Cable coming into play. But if Cable comes into the big screen then you gotta bring Bishop with him..no questions asked!

For sure!
