While Bradley Cooper may or may not be cast as the DC comic-book character, the film is definitely going ahead. It will apparently centre around Hal Jordan (so no, no women in fridges in this one), which is good as the character is undoubtedly the best of the Green Lanterns. Apparently the film will start shooting in Australia later on this year, Martin Campbell ('Goldeneye', 'Casino Royale') in the director's chair. It is due for release in 2011 apparently. The most encouraging thing for me however, is the fact that one of the writers of this script is Marc Guggenheim, a comic book writer and a man doing a rather good run on 'The Amazing Spiderman' at the moment. Surely with a man who really understands comics helping steer the script, it could be a winner? Source: Empire - http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=25082

It is this movie. They haven't decided on cast yet. So there's still a chance he will.

I think that Chris Pine is a better choice for the Green Lantern than Bradley Cooper..

Just seen this at DigitalSpy http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/comics/a162057/green-lantern-rumours-falsified.htmlGreen Lantern rumours falsified
Green Lantern screenwriter Marc Guggenheim has played down casting rumours surrounding the big screen adaptation of the DC Comic.
Speaking to Sci Fi Wire, he told fans to dismiss speculation linking Star Trek's Chris Pine and The Hangover's Bradley Cooper to the lead role of Hal Jordan, claiming the reports were "all false".
"They're all false insofar as we haven't chosen anyone yet. They're still in the negotiations, you know? There's a lot of names being talked about, and there's a lot of people being met, and a lot of... actors reading the script," he said.
Guggenheim went on to assure fans that his adaptation will be faithful to the source material. "The goal here is to do the best cinematic representation of the Green Lantern character," he added.
"You know, there's no desire on anyone's part to completely change the character and just call this other character Green Lantern and try to... draft off the name recognition. This is all about, 'How do we bring the best version of this character to the silver screen?'"
Green Lantern will arrive in cinemas on June 17, 2011. Guggenheim seems to know what he's talking about so I'm looking forward to it

i'm shocked marc guggenheim gets to write this movie. seeing as how he's been writing pretty much exclusively marvel comics for a while know (he's currently one of the writers on spider-man)
didn't they say mark millar wouldn't get to do his epic-ass superman trilogy because of his strong affiliation with marvel comics?

I guess Bradley Cooper wins by default. If he doesn't then someone in Hollywood is smoking crack.

Am I missing something? He uses the power of green and is defeated by the color yellow. Is this really worth making a movie about?

He'll still be Deadpool though, right?
So Ryan Reynolds has now played THREE comic book heroes (Blade 3). Give someone else a chance, he's not that great. ...in fact he was terrible in Blade 3.

who knows if he'll still do deadpool, it could still work, they're very different characters, and what with the scarring he'd be unrecognisable.
you're right, i think with three genre characters he holds the nerd record...
patrick stewart (2) - xavier/picard ian mckellan (2) - magneto/gandalf halle berry (2) - storm/catwoman jessica alba (2) - sue storm/nancy callahan christian bale (2) - batman/john connor sam jackson (2) - octopus/nick fury scarlett johansson (2) - silken floss/black widow
anybody else? no one seems to try more than two...

Oh good call. Although I don't feel the likes of Lord Of The Rings or Star Trek counts.
James Marsden has done a double. If we count VforVen it's a double for John Hurt too.

yeah, marsden in returns, of course! brandon routh is in scott pilgrim as well. and the great brian blessed adds thor to flash gordon...
you pretty much can't watch any movie without there being an actor in it from a major nerdfest.
