Proving that horror movies are fresh out of ideas (the last truly original one being, arguably, Final Destination), the trailer for 'scary' and bloodless PG-13 remake The Stepfather is online:

So it's not at all clever, original or even remotely chilling - could be something to do with its bland direction or the incredible number of bikini shots on display.

Is horror going the kid-friendly route? With Prom Night tearing up nothing but shadows last year and now this, it seems that there is a definite division in the fear flick field right now. Adults who want actual horror films have to deal with over the top torture porn like Saw, Hostel or anything by Rob Zombie, while the rest of the field gets watered down for the big bucks kiddie market.

Compare this film to the original:

The trailer feels chilling, thanks to an interesting take on the premise leading the images, while Terry O'Quint's award-winning performance is genuinely brilliant. And not a single half-covered breast on display.

I want to see this!! I really enjoyed the ones from when I was a kid. So does anyone know if they are going to re-release the 1st on on dvd again? What about the 3rd one? I own the 2nd one, but I heard that they are re-releasing the 2nd one...now I hope they do the same with the first and 3rd!!

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw all three in a trilogy right around the time of the remake's release.

I've yet to see a good horror movie that has been given the PG13 rating, its not about the blood for me its about how little you can actually scare people and end up with an 18 but thats what horror is, its supposed to be horrific FFS!
