Will Smith is set to re-team with I Am Legend helmer Francis Lawrence, to make The City That Sailed. Believe it or not, that title is quite literal, with Smith's character capable of moving Manhattan with the power of love, hopefully whilst singing
the Huey Lewis classic.
The love in question is paternal, as Smith plays
a father who lives on the opposite side of the ocean from his daughter. Their bond is so strong that it causes Manhattan to split off and float across the Atlantic.
Brian Koppelman and David Levien, writers of Ocean’s Thirteen, are rewriting Andrew Niccol's script. The script may be amazing, but the concept does not seem great...it's certainly
unique though. It is unique, right? There aren't other movies where people move islands with the power of love?
Other projects in the pipeline for Smith include a remake of The Karate Kid that he's producing; a remake of Oldboy that he's starring in; and, prior to this announcement, a prequel to I Am Legend was rumoured. I think the most anticipated of all of these has to be Oldby, whether people enthuse about the material being adapted again or not - it's Smith and Spielberg. That's HUGE with a capital $.
