Harry Potter and the Oh My Good God We Waited An Extra Six Months for This Tripe
has been disappointing audiences worldwide to the tune of $159 million in just five days, with $79 million of this coming from US tickets alone.
This puts it miles ahead of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
which opened with $139 million, going on to make an impressive $938 million worldwide. Unfortunately, Potter VI: The Curse of Harry Potter
did not beat the incredible speed of Transformers: Bay Steals Your Soul
which broke $200 million in just five days.
Elsewhere in the top ten, Bruno
dropped a galling 72% down to fourth place, bringing its total to a crushing $50 million - a whole $200 million behind the performance of Borat
. Perhaps the gay content is just too much for some people, huh?
And now for the news that will make sane people's heads explode: Transformers: Jesus Christ Somebody Got Paid For This
has opened in China... and smashed the previous best record, making $58 million (400 million yuan). The previous best was held by Titanic
since 1998 with $52 million, while the first Robot Smackdown Picture made $37 million.
And that's all for this week. Tune in next time to see if Harry gets knocked off the top spot, while Rosanna deals with her pregnancy.
