If you were nervous that Iron Man 2 will suffer from Pirates of the Carribean-itis, it seems like you can breathe easy. Judging from the Comic Con footage it will be amazing.

It starts with Tony Stark in his suit with the mask off, chowing down donuts while sprawled inside a giant donut decoration that adorns a local bakery. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) appears and says "Sir, I'll have to ask you to step out of that donut."

It's hilarious!

Then we see Stark sitting before a government hearing and a sleezy U.S. Senator (played with surprising sincerity by Gary Shandling!) tries to force him to admit that "Iron Man" is a weapon.

Then after a fun montage of cool images we are introduced toWhiplash (Mickey Roarke). Ignore those still images that appeared online a while back, they do NOT do him justice! The evil conviction and brutish revenge come across even in this limited footage. And his laser whips are beyond awesome.

Sam Rockwel and Scarlett Johanson seem to do well with their roles, but it's hard to tell at this point. All in all, the footage wowed the entire audience.

Whiplash looks like Mickey Rourke on a major bender. War Machine's not very grey.

just the light on war machine, methinks. he's black and grey, it's a dark shot of a dark shot of a dark suit...

as for whiplash, i'm stil thinking what you said we saw the suit - let's see it in motion.

I hate the Pirates sequels because they didn't get the correct shade of brown for Jack Sparrow's hat. If they go back in time and change that I'll be perfectly happy.

Yeah, that's sharp. I'd made some of that connection, but missed the secretary detail etc.

The three new characters do make me nervous.  Oh well. Article isn't wrong, but any suggestion this is a direct rip off would be out of line.

Batman Returns was a favourite film of mine growing up. I'm waiting to be interested in the Black Widow character though.

I haven't attempted to rewarch Returns. After Batman Begins I bought the original Tim Burton Batman and could barely get through it. It really is a bad movie on a story level. I love Nichelson and Keaton hamming it up and love the style, for sure, but the story is dull as hell.

i dislike both burton batman movies, i think it's a case of it was the best you had at the time so any batman is good batman. i'd rather watch adam west, more entertaining.

I much preferred Batman Returns to the original movie. They are very different, the second is beautifully shot, better acted and much more subversive.

It's main issue is it suffers from no one being evil enough - I'm sure I shouldn't be feeling sorry for The Penguin when he dies. Both the original movies, in their efforts to create a 'rounded' character, ended up making the villains too sympatheic. If Batman had fallen off the ladder at the end of the first one instead of The Joker I wouldn't have cared.

Say what you want about Renny Harlin but he always struck me as someone who made you really want the bad guys dead. You should be punching the air when one of those fuckers goes down. Cliffhanger's a good example.

And there's no Kim Basinger or the local paper in Batman Returns all of which was just utterly dead space in the first one.
