Despite the universal agreement that
X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a bit poo, the movie went on to make almost $400 million worldwide, causing Marvel executives to put their sequel caps on. What is known so far about the film is that it will follow the scene hinted at in one of the versions of last year's film and take place in Japan, following the Chris Claremont/ Frank Miller miniseries set there. Expect lots of samurais and lots of claws.
The man hired for the job of making
X-Men Origins: The Continuing Story of Wolverine (not an actual title) not suck is longtime Bryan Singer (the good
X-Mens,
Superman Returns and Stares Through Windows) collaborator, Christopher McQuarrie. He's written
The Usual Suspects,
Valkyrie and even polished David Hayter's ("Metal Gear!") script for the first
X-Men flick.
So far, no director is attached. Bryan Singer is on his way to space for the
Battlestar Galactica movie and Jackman is still happy to star and produce. What would you like from a
Wolverine sequel? I'm hoping for no more fanboy-baiting mutant appearances that end up being cameos.
