Three new posters for Roland Emmerich's latest disaster epic 2012 have been released. 2012 is a movie about the world ending in 2012...available on DVD in 2013. Check out the tantalising posters below.

It would've bee nice to have been surprised by these posters, seeing as how we won't be surprised by the movie, but they're little more than still images from the trailer, with little artistic or conceptual merit. Saddening. That said, it's rare that a truly incredible poster is unleashed upon us, so it's easy to be harsh. On a positive note, even the static cataclysm on the posters is damn impressive, so hopefully the moving images will be breathtaking.

As an added bonus, here' the poster that has been around for quite a while, because we're generous like that.

And here's a little interview from SDCC, where Emmerich talks about his upcoming adaptation of legendary sci-fi author Isaac Asimov's Foundation:

What say you movie morons: posters - yay or nay?

Yay. I mean, how can you not? It's all been done before, but it's always fun.

Not enough destruction, too much focus on the actors.

um these posters literally scare the crap out of me. I cant see movies like these, they are way to depressing and way to folk glore status for me. Since man was born there has been talk of the world coming to an end, and it keeps builiding up to something bigger and bigger, and it hasnt happened yet. So when it does happen, i hope im dead, and seeing these types of movies makes me not want to be alive. We cant it be a happy movie?
