Hopefully you're like me and thoroughly enjoyed Neil Marshall's
The Descent, which was genuinely scary and oozed the creep literally from the shocking opening 10 minutes and hopefully you're like me in wondering how they could make a sequel, well here's your answer
So there you have it, what can you say, it shows the sole survivor (from the American release, here in good old Blighty we at least got the better ending) Sarah (Shauna MacDonald
Mutant Chronicles) going back to the scene of her girlie potholing nightmare, with good cop, sceptical cop and token old guy in tow.
Apart from that not making any sense (no trauma therapist on the planet would recommend a patient going back down a creature infested hole) on first, second and third viewing this looks nothing more than a rehash of the first film, it doesn't show anything new or hint at anything different.
The only thing i can see that gives it a glimmer of hope is that its directed by Jon Harris who edited the original film along with
Eden Lake and the up coming Matthew Vaughn comic book flick
Kick Ass so at least he knows his way round horror and action, still its his first megaphone gig so who knows what he's like when he's actually calling the shots, i guess we'll find out on December 4th here in the UK, although bizarrely it doesn't yet have a US release date.
