It's Kind of a Funny Story for Wayfare Entertainment, Focus Features and Misher Films. Its's a coming of age drama/ comedy based on Ned Vizzini's young-adult novel and tells of a teenage boy who, after a bout of depression, is sent to a mental institution, where he ends up in the adult ward and meets a number of offbeat adults as well as a quirky teenage girl. Juno crossed with
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.The young, depressed individual is yet to be cast and Galifianakis would play one of the main adult roles (obviously) while Emma Roberts stars as the teenage love interest. The film is set to be written and directed by the team behind
Half Nelson and baseball drama
Sugar, writer-directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden. Shooting will begin later this year.
