Looks pretty strong to me. Nothing earth shattering. Reminds me a bit of the 70s Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. I'm not saying it'll be a patch on that, but the imagery of the army and personalities switching. I didn't think too much of the Romero original.

I do have a bit of a problem with the trailer that it's one of those that gives away every beat of the story. I can picture the entire thing now, right up to the last five minutes. And I have to say that's made me a lot less inclined to go see it. A trailer with one person's crazy behavoir under observation, and then a reveal that it's city wide, you know the principle, that would have been enough.

A remake isn't a bad thing, only a lazy remake is. A lazy remake is worse than a lazy movie because more potential is wasted and it looks worse by comparison to the original.

Dislike:
 - Poor, gear-grinding use of the Donnie Darko song
 - Platinum Dunes style genera-digital cinematography
 - A "The world is in danger!" ending

Like:
 - Rhada Mitchell or whatever he name is
 - That opening scene
 - Mr. Olyphant as a Sheriff! Long live Deadwood!


Overall: looks competently made, but utterly boring except for the beginning

Agreed. Although, I think 86.3% of remakes fall into the category.

PS I'm seeing Paranormal Activity tonight at 1am, I'll let you know how it is! Are they doing the whole limited release at midnight showings only thing in the UK as well?

To be honest I hardly keep an eye on what's happening in the UK now, but I haven't seen any news indicating that here. Been reading some great write-ups for the movie though, should be good.
