While promoting Fantastic Mr Fox in London Bill Murray has shed further light on the mysterious Ghostbusters 3 project. In a typically honest interview with British radio station Absolute, Murray also discusses his role as a badger in Mr Fox and the difficulties that come with making sequels.

It's over 20 years since Ghostbusters 2 but hopes are that all the original cast will reunite for a third installment including the retired Rick Moranis, lets face it though, if they don't manage to convince Murray to do the film then they might as well just forget it. His brilliant dead pan delivery is what made the original so great.
Murray has had an interesting career since the Ghostbuster films, combining mainstream Hollywood roles with more interesting parts in arthouse and independent films. Along with his numerous roles in Wes Anderson films, Murray is also a regular in the films of American-indie great Jim Jarmusch and earlier this year appeared in his film The Limits of Control. The minimalist style of Jarmusch and also of the Jarmusch influenced Sofia Coppola(Lost in Translation) seems to be perfectly suited to Murray' laid back style of acting. Arguably though, Murray's best performance to date is in the comedy classic Groundhog Day, in which he plays a world weary TV meteorologist who gets stuck in a time loop.

Are you looking forward to Ghostbusters 3? Will it even go ahead? and do you agree with my choice of Murray's best performance?

I don't know, I think I'd probably headbutt McG as well.

So, maybe I'm horrible to work with. Sheridan, don't make me headbutt you.

Drew Barrymore was producing Charlie's Angels and was trying to get hold of him, the advice she was given about Murray was "It always seems like a good idea, but you really don't want to go there." Sure enough he ended up headbutting the director and refusing to come back for the sequel.

Garfield's not a movie shoot, it's 4 days in a recording studio. Easy money.

I didn't think of it that way. I guess that says even more about him being disappointed with the sequel...

I think he's a bit embarrassed he did Garfield judging by this clip

here's a bit of an interview I just found, Murray claims McG  is talking crap
Quote
"Of other directors, though, he is not so enamoured. Terminator Salvation’s McG (aka Joseph McGinty Nichol), for one, who directed Murray in Charlie’s Angels, recently claimed that Murray headbutted him on the Angels’ set during a creative dispute. “That’s bulls***! That’s complete crap!” says Murray, flushing slightly yet maintaining composure. “I don’t know why he made that story up. He has a very active imagination.” He pauses. The subject seems closed, but then a minor eruption. “No! He deserves to die,” he says, coldly staring, without breaking deadpan. “He should be pierced with a lance, not headbutted.”

here's the whole article, it's pretty interesting http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/film/article6876687.ece

Brilliant. Dear Mr. Murray, stop faffing around in indie land looking morose, do more comedies.
