Angelina Jolie, aka the only actress that comes to mind when casting directors want a female Tom Cruise or Will Smith, is taking on the role of Dr Kay Scarpetta. Scarpetta is the main character in a series of crime novels by best-selling author Patricia Cornwell; Scarpetta uses forensic science to investigate crimes, and started doing so in 1990, pre-dating CSI by an entire decade.

This movie could spawn a franchise (or at least a couple of turns from Jolie as the character, a la Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross), and is being written by Kerry Williamson, who is also working on a Bank Heist script for Darren Aronofsky. Okay, I'm now officially distracted by the mention of Darren Aronofsky doing a heist movie...Focus. Focus. Here's a video of Angelina Jolie:

That video courtesy of the YouTuber known as Bellybuttonhunter. The internet is a scary, scary place.

Anytime I read a Patricia Cornwell Scarpetta novel Ive always imagined her a Ashley Judd. I dont know if that beacuse I got that from her being in Kiss the Girls with Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross. Because i was reading Scarpetta and Cross novels at the same time, along with Lincoln Rhyme novels by Jeffery Deaver. In which is my favorite out the 3 detectives. Funny thing about that is that Lincoln Rhyme has a co partner that does all the field work because he is a cripple in a wheelchair, and in the first novel out the series is titled The Bone Collector, Lincoln Rhyme was played by Denzel Washington and his partner was played by Angelina Jolie. But even with that in mind i still like the idea of Ashley Judd playing Scarpetta, it just fits her better. If anyone has ever read one of the books then you will probaly agree with me.

You read Patricia Cornwell T.Ross? You're a hard man to predict. Full of surprises. Is Scarpetta going to make a good movie?

Yeah, apparently they get better. I can definitely see the potential, but I wouldn't rush to read another one.
