
Angelina Jolie, aka the only actress that comes to mind when casting directors want a female Tom Cruise or Will Smith, is taking on the role of Dr Kay Scarpetta. Scarpetta is the main character in a series of crime novels by best-selling author Patricia Cornwell; Scarpetta uses forensic science to investigate crimes, and started doing so in 1990, pre-dating CSI by an entire decade.

This movie could spawn a franchise (or at least a couple of turns from Jolie as the character, a la Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross), and is being written by Kerry Williamson, who is also working on a Bank Heist script for Darren Aronofsky. Okay, I'm now officially distracted by the mention of Darren Aronofsky doing a heist movie...Focus. Focus. Here's a video of Angelina Jolie:
