Anyone else think Cop Out is going to get terrible reviews? I've seen a couple of clips, it's horribly shot, amateurish in places, and the humor isn't really working. I though the trailer was good, but some of the laughs in the trailer are in the clips and don't work in context.

Critically panned and hopefully it will bomb at the box office if it's truly awful.

It's a tricky thing cause it's part spoof, part true cop comedy. I think you need to go full spoof or find something to breathe new life into that "genre"

As it is, it just feels like a direct-to-dvd carbon copy of Lethal Weapon, 48 Hours, Die Hard 3, etc

Kevin Smith hasn't made a good movie since Mallrats, has he? Has he EVER made a popular one?

Good call on Mallrats, that's one I do love that most seem to think was a lowpoint.

Also, Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back should have been so much funnier.
Just thought I'd throw that in.

Chasing Amy is his best film I think. Clerks is a great first film, it has an incredible vibe to it, and Mallrats is hilarious but too silly for critics.

Dogma is his most "cinematic" and I personally love the satire. I couldn't sit through Jay and Silent Bob, loathed Zack and Miri (all but the reunion scene) and have never bothered with Clerks II or Jersey Girl.

Cop Out has 13% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Variety said -
"Smith's directorial style is far too slack for this material"

New York Press -
"Smith’s staging, composition, editing and humor mark him as utterly incompetent."

Knew it.
