Captain America update

The farce continues, yet more additions to the list of potential Captain Americas. Ryan Phillippe and Channing Tatum have now emerged as candidates for the titular role. As they are both bigger names than the previous 3 i reported(Garrett Hedlund, Chris Evans and Mike Vogel) it is probable that they have been shunted to the front of the queue. The fact that they are letting the names of potential candidates fly around the internet maybe suggests that Marvel are monitoring the response of fans!? your comments could make a difference!

Interesting that they should be looking at two such different actors.  If it is a choice between the two then the choice will certainly reflect the direction they are planning to take the film. Phillippe is more of a subtle and nuanced actor and would certainly add an intellectual edge to the film. Tatum is more the standard action hero type but probably looks more suitable. Basically what I am saying is that it will probably be a better film if they choose Phillippe but they will most likely choose Tatum.

Interesting point about putting names out there to gauge reaction, I expect there is actually a lot of truth to that. Terminator Salvation changed its entire ending due to the reaction online when the idea leaked.

Using the same logic I used to determine Rampage Jackson's suitability for Baracus, I can tell you that Phillipe wins on headshape alone. He's a little short, but so's RDJ. And Phillipe also has a cooler voice. It's between him and Vogel, I think.

I also think they're trying to gauge reactions, but their plan is backfiring because everyone is getting a negative reaction (which I think is stupid).

Sure thing we covered it on the front page. It's been a couple of days now, I want to be excited about him in the role (I like him as an actor) but...just..can't.

He's only been paid $300,000 for this part, according to reports.

So he's going to star in a worldwide blockbuster, and at the end wouldn't even be able to afford a two bedroom flat in London.
