The long awaited trailer for the long awaited movie adaptation of Scott Pilgrim has hit the net! It is the most hype inducing trailer since Tron Legacy. Behold:

<a href="http://video.msn.com/?mkt=en-gb&from=sp&fg=shareObject&vid=3dca99ef-87c0-4343-a0da-f7f329301841" target="_new" title="Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - Trailer (HD)">Video: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - Trailer (HD)</a>

Michael Cera stars as Scott Pilgrim, lead singer of crappy, unsigned band Sex Bob-Omb (that’s a Super Mario reference, n00bs), and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, the girl of Scott’s dreams. Literally. He dreams about her, and then she shows up. In pursuit of her he has to fight her seven evil ex-boyfriends, evade his jilted ex Knives Chau, and put up with Wallace Wells (Kieran Culkin), the gay roommate that he sleeps with (but not in a gay way). It's an epic love story, a teen comedy and a bizarre action piece set in Canada, influenced by music, video games, manga and real life, it really is like nothing else. The sixth and final volume of the comic book series on which the movie is based will be released just ahead of the film, and the ending is apparently a little different, but everything else about the movie seems pretty faithful.

Let us know what you think of the trailer! It's already popular as hell, beating Justin Bieber as a Twitter trending topic and a soundtrack touted as 2010s best. I loved it. So much so I rejigged the trailer a little, fun times:

I know, I should have waited a few months until there was more footage to play with, or a few years until I learned how to edit.

You can also enjoy the trailer in HD over on Apple, and you can enjoy a song from the soundtrack by Metric right here:

Sorted Sheridan, MSN embeddable vid, plus I quickly edited my own little remix on Vimeo.

Glad you liked the books twadsy! Volume six comes out a month before the movie and apparently the ending is different. What disappointed you about the trailer though? I think it looks awesome!

too much focus on the fighting side of it, plus I just realised that Michael Cera is too geeky for the role. I still think the film will be good, they are probably just emphasising the action side of it in the trailer to draw in the people who don't know about the comic.

Yeah, there's quite a build up to the first fight in the book, it comes out of nowhere and then stays crazy. I can't wait to see this:

I hope they keep it in the movie. Hilarious and badass in equal measure.

I had my doubts about Cera too, since he's uber geeky and Scott Pilgrim is kinda slacker cool ... but I think it could work.

Also keep in mind that this is an adaptation, and some of the best ones (Kubrick's The Shining, Master and Commander, Jurassic Park, Nightwatch, Daywatch) have varied GREATLY from the source material while others (Stephen King's The Shining, Watchmen, Harry Potter 1 and 2) have hewed too close to the source material and have failed.

Also, it's a trailer, so they put in all the fighting bits. Remember how long it took to get to the zombies in Shaun of the Dead and how long it took to get to the action in Hot Fuzz, I think us cinephiles will be pleasantly surprised with the build up.
