Peter Sollet in line to direct Marvel's Runaways

Peter Sollet, director of Nick and Norah's infinite playlist, is in line to direct an adaptation of Marvel Comics book Runaways. It'll be interested to see if it changes its title, considering there's a movie about a band called The Runaways coming out soon...

Runaways is about a group of kids that, well, run away when they discover that their parents are all supervillains. Of course, like most parents, they set out to find their kids. Only these parents are pure evil, so that's different.

Peter Sollet's Raising Victor Vargas is highly praised, whilst his follow up, Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist, was less well received. Runaways has long been rumoured to be the next big film from Marvel, and one of the least familiar properties in its stable, although it's an award winning and popular book in the comics community. As well as proving that Marvel lesser known and most recent properties are viable film projects, Runaways could potentially offer several great roles for unknown child actors too; or it could star Jaden Smith and Justin Bieber, who knows.

Fun premise.  I like Nick and Norak quite a bit, but that's cause of Michael Cera and Kat Dennings, a lot of that movie (in particular the ending) is poorly crafted.
