Um, he'll go wherever the sluts are I guess. Globe trotting for that purpose. Kind of like James Bond.

Only someone who has never picked up a British paper would question the legitimacy of that article.  Cheesy

So, I'm almost done with season 4 (about to watch the specials where they switch to Matt Smith) and I have to say that, even with the bad episodes sprinkled in, this ranks with the best sci-fi I've ever seen or read. Adore the show.

Also, this:

The new Doctor Who seems a bit young. I feel a bit too old for the show now. Also he shouts a lot. And why does he have to stand so still?

I think it's gone downhill quite a bit since Tennant and Russell T Davies left. The new writer, Steven Moffat, tries to keep every episode at this Indiana Jones style breakneck pace and it just doesn't work. He's got no idea how to structure a story. I used to say the same about Davies but watching the new series has made me realise that he was actually a pretty decent writer. I did enjoy Moffat's Sherlock though.

Also the two sidekicks are really tedious. Both are completely fearless in any situation and it just removes the possibility of any suspense. The moment this was particularly apparent was the recent pirate episode when Amy, having only just boarded a vessel full of supposedly dangerous pirates, immediately grabbed a cutlass and started fencing with them with a big grin on her face. It was preposterous! The only episode I enjoyed from the current series was the acid factory one.

Oh wow, I have COMPLETELY the opposite reaction to twaddington here. Like, exactly the same opinion, inverted. I think the show is infinitely superior since the departure of RTD, I think the story arcs are better, the companions are more interesting. I even think the episode with the Gangers was the weakest of the past series, which I think was overall the best yet  Shocked

haha, that's crazy.

I think Doctor Who is at its best with small scale stories. Off the top of my head, my favourite episodes since it rebooted are: Blink, the one where they are trapped on a tour bus on an alien planet, the one with Rose's dad from the first series, the one where the doctor forgets he's the doctor, the van gogh episode and the one with the gas mask faces.

Moffat is better at writing one off episodes than the whole series I reckon.
