Hailed "The New District 9" already, a feature film is set to be made of a short film called The Gift from director Carl Erik Rinsch. Check out the awesome short right here:
Rinsch is the protege of Ridley Scott, working for Ridley Scott Associates, and was once attached to direct the Alien franchise reboot now being helmed by the original director himself. Now interest is in Rinsch's own property, the world that The Gift is set in is likely to be explored in the director's feature length debut, with a bidding war currently taking place.

Last year's sci-fi hit District 9 was similarly derived from a short film, which did a tremendous job building the world that you see, as does this. The android butler is magnificently realised, the blue and white design is reminiscent of the kind of Chinese porcelain that might be found in the homes of the wealthy - it makes sense to see such a decoratively designed robot as a butler.
What did you think of the short? Did it leave you wanting more?
