Robert Rodriguez' second foray into grindhouse cinema is almost upon us and will see its undoubtedly awesome release on September 3rd.
Machete, for those who may not be aware, is based on a fake trailer Rodriguez made for the two-part salute to seventies cinema
Grindhouse. Although both parts of the real film (
Planet Terror and
Death Proof) were sorely lacking, the trailers have proven themselves to be massive hits online, encouraging Rodriguez to take another look at
Machete.
Danny Trejo stars as Machete himself, an ex-Federale Mexican who is assigned to assassinate a senator, only to be double-crossed. This, naturally, sends him on the warpath to revenge. Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriquez and Lindsay Lohan are also set to star

Machete. Expect the real thing to be just as hilarious and much longer.
Let's hope that this serves as a springboard to getting the other equally funny trailers made into movies, or, at the very least, getting more imaginative films made that aren't sequels or remakes.
