Before torture porn reared its ugly little head, Hollywood horror cinema was all about crappy remakes of decent Japanese horror films, e.g The Grudge, Dark Water and The Ring.  The new fashion is of course 3D, and 3D is accomodating to all genres. Torture, porn and crappy remakes are all welcome in the land of 3D. Anyway,  Paramount Pictures is developing a third installment of The Ring franchise to be titled Ring 3D.
The Ring , starring Naomi Watts, was the most successful of the crappy remakes and the original 1998 Japanese film was the one that kicked off that whole little cycle of remakes in the first place. That original was of course defined by the iconic and terrifying moment in which Sadako crawls out of the television screen.  Well if you thought that was scary, imagine it in 3D! Yes I know, distracting, annoying, pointless are the adjectives that spring to mind.

According to heatvisionblog

"the new film is being fashioned as more teen-centric than the first, and though the logline is being kept under wraps, the aim is to reinvent the franchise."

That sounds to me like added gore, emphasis on cheap shocks and a few busty blondes thrown in for good measure.
