Needs more beard.

Branagh has always been a horrible director, movie will disappoint.

That beard will get shaved off at some point anyway I expect.

Disagree about Branagh, Much Ado is solid.

Only his Shakespeare movies get well reviewed. Because if they're boring and unfunny that's what's expected from the Bard.

The opposite is true. It's way easier to mess us Shakespeare than it is to do it right, and people are generally harsh on productions because the stories have been done so often.

There aren't that many traditional (non 'updating') Shakespeare films made, and as long as you have a cast filled with theatrical Brits you'll get decent reviews.

...Hell even Shakespeare In Love beat Saving Private Ryan to the Oscar.

Shakespeare in Love is not a Shakespeare movie and you know it. Bad form, Sheridan. And seriously, if Shakespeare doesn't APPEAL to you, that's one thing, but to make the claim that it's somehow easy to adapt Shakespeare, or even easy to gain praise from doing so, is RIDICULOUSLY erroneous.

Branagh Shakespeare

Non-Branagh Shakespeare

Indeed none of those disprove my statement -

The two 'failures' (one of which is still called "faultless" lol) didn't have theatrical Brits headlining.

77% + Indiana Jones 4 = Rotten Tomatoes Fail Forever

There's a scene in Branaugh's Hamlet where two characters are talking as they walk through a room, turn though at archway to head outside, and in the edit they teleport about fifteen feet away from the archway in MID SENTENCE. The man cannot even make a basic scene work TECHNICALLY, let alone artistically. He's a hack who gets critical acclaim for letting good actors speak the greatest dialog even written in the English language.

Also, financial success is not determined solely by quality (Avatar, Transformers 2, Paul Blart Mall Cop)
