As Christopher Nolan’s upcoming mind-bender Inception quickly approaches, the Warner Bros. marketing team is in full force. Three more TV spots have popped up and they add a few new bits of footage.
It might seem like overkill, but to be fair, The Dark Knight had around 16 TV spots, in addition to the trailers and an entire opening scene, before its theatrical release. However, Inception‘s prior reliance on mystery has made the recent onslaught of promotional materials a bit surprising.
At this point, it really doesn’t matter what Warner Bros. does, Inception is looking to be a bright spot in a pretty lackluster summer -- as the film appears intellectually stimulating as well as inspiring on a visual scale.
The latest TV spots continue to raise stakes and drop jaws.
In recent interviews, Nolan discussed how the sound design blends with the narrative structure of Inception. In the trailers, sounds foreshadow what we can expect from the final film. A recent teaser even used high-frequency noise and slow-motion drag to accent the visual effects.
The three new TV spots are just as exciting and action-packed as the handful before. With only two weeks left before the release of Inception, we are in the final stretch and the marketing machine is pumping every bit of awesome out the film -- hopefully there’s some surprises left when the movie hits theaters.
