Love Adrien Brody, but I kind of wish Alice Braga was the main character.

The Predator put a parachute on his back.

That should be a lyric, or a rhyme. Something.

I'm hopeful I'll be impressed, just not excited. Due in no small part to me not having seen the original movie. That Fishburne intro didn't come off as badass as I think they wanted it to, but him being dressed up as a Predator is cool.

And look, here's a Predator vs Na'vi picture:

Is it weird that this reminds me more of that Twilight/Blade mashup than it does of the plentiful Alien vs Predator artwork?

Fishburne looks like he's been eating well on the alien planet.

I couldn't see the screen in the cinema because of the UTERUS blocking my vision.  Wink

In all seriousness, I just never sought it out. I only saw Alien a few years ago and I still haven't seen the sequel. Not that I expect Predator to be anywhere near as good a movie as Alien. Or even a good movie...

It's probably ruined now by all the spin-off shit that's been flying around for 20 years. But wow Predator is a great movie. Hugely original, surprising (well it was), terrific atmosphere. Just a brilliant genre screenplay, brilliantly executed. I recommend you watch it.

Added to the (88 title long) LoveFilm queue. Will bump it up high if I get in an 80s mood any time soon.

If you take out the Police Academy movies, you'll get that down to 80. Predator also contains some of the greatest screen moments of machoism, forgot to mention that.

What's a Police Academy movie? Like a training video?

FYI: This is the 21st Century. Machoism = Homoerotica.

Please tell me you're trollin' again, you MUST know what a Police Academy movie is.

Predator came out last century, so it's ok.

Mixing Predator and Alien was always a bad idea.  I adore Predator (and, while it's been a LONG time, I remember liking the sequel quite a lot) but it's ... how shall I put it ... a bit sillier than Alien. Like, Arnold impales someone with a machete and says "Stick around."

I love it  but ... it ain't the same sort of story as Alien, you know? Alien was artsy with a unique structure (40 minutes before even a hint of an Alien ... then it turns into a slasher film), great actors and stunning cinematography.

Predator is a couple of pre-U.S. Senators running around the jungle saying things like "I ain't got time to bleed" and making googly eyes at a female prisoner of war that looks shockingly hot and well-kept for being part of jungle guerilla warfare.

Aliens was a bit closer in vibe to Predator, but still was a bit more serious. This is why is made sense to see an *SPOILER* hanging on the wall in Predator 2. it was this silly nod to another franchise ... if you'd seen something like that in Alien 3 you would have shook your head. That an the fact they wasted Paul McGann.
