We've known for a while now that Paul Reubens' Pee Wee Herman would be returning to the big screen, but know we also know that it's going to be from comedy heavyweight Judd Apatow.
Variety reports that Apatow is developing a feature for Universal, which Reubens is currently writing with the help of Paul Rust (star of I Love You, Beth Cooper and scribe for shows like Jimmy Fallon). The still-untitled project will be a road pic centered around "a gigantic adventure," and considering the title of his last feature in '85, I'll go out on a limb and say there's a good chance this puppy will be called Pee-wee's Gigantic Adventure. Apatow doesn't plan to direct the film himself, but he is eager to get it made: "Let's face it, the world needs more Pee-wee Herman. I am so excited to be working with Paul Reubens -- who is an extraordinary and groundbreaking actor and writer. It's so great to watch him return with such relevance."
