Okay, so I've heard of (and give a crap about) these:

The Green Hornet (in 3-D)
The Adjustment Bureau
Rango
Battle: Los Angeles
Red Riding Hood
Paul
Sucker Punch (in 3D)
Your Highness
Thor
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (3D)
The Hangover 2
X-Men: First Class
Fast Five
Green Lantern (in 3D)
Rise of the Apes (tentative title)
Captain America: The First Avenger
Cowboys & Aliens
Immortals (in 3D)
Hugo Cabret
Sherlock Holmes 2
The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn (in 3D)

So I have to halve that and maybe look into the ones I haven't heard of. I'll be back. I could literally have a Top 10 half made up of sequels and half made up of superhero movies. You know things are bad when I start complaining about too many superhero movies...

10. The Cabin in the Woods (in 3D)
-   It’s basically Joss Whedon’s chance to make up for Dollhouse.

9. Paul
 - The premise is a bit thin, but these guys are two for two with Sean of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, so let’s hope the lack of Edgar Wright doesn’t stamp out the laughs.

8. Green Lantern (in 3D)
 - With a slew of superhero movies, this is the only one that interest me. He fights with the power of the color green, people! GREEN! Easily the weirdest super power ever.

7. Real Steel
 - Rock em Sock em Robots: The Movie

6. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn
 - Oh shut up. There’s going to be a scene where a dude screws his wife into unconsciousness then rips a baby out of her womb with his teeth. See it.

5. The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn (in 3D)
 - aka, Spielberg’s Last Chance (aka, Hopefull Better Than the Polar Express)

4. The Muppets
 - A guy can dream, right? I love the Muppets and hope this is the start of a new awesome franchise reboot.

3. Super 8
 - I’m a bit burnt out on J.J. Abrams, but I think I can swing another creature feature.

2. Scream 4
 - Hated the third one and hope this is a better finale for an awesome franchise.

1.   The Thing
 - The original is one of the best films ever made. There’s no way I won’t see this movie.

These are all of next year's wide release movies, with the odd exception. This is the hand 2011 has dealt you.

Can we count Thor and Captain America as one movie? Like, a two-part Avengers prequel? Also, why are you guys anticipating The Thing so much if you LIKE the original?

And am I allowed to be looking forward to Transformers 3?

I was looking forward to Sucker Punch when Amanda Seyfried, Evan Rachel Wood and Emma Stone were in it.

You type too quickly, I can't think fast enough. By the way, thanks for reformatting your other message so that my witty response makes sense. And who's Amanda Seyfried?

Because there's still so much mileage in the concept (if they are smart filmmakers), the setting and idea haven't really been revisited by other movies since, and seeing a favourite movie remade decades later has a curiosity appeal. I'm sure the trailer will end all hope, but for now...

I'm just looking forward to seeing how much they've messed it up. I'm pretty sick like that.

I really thought the 6th one wasn't up to scratch. Also the fact that they have split the book into two films really annoys me, it's purely for financial reasons, there's no way there is enough in that book for two films, same goes for The Hobbit as well actually.

Yeah, The Hobbit is easily one movie.

I may revise this, I don't know. Still would like to squeeze Thor & Captain America: The First Avenger in there...

10 ) Cowboys & Aliens
9 ) Contagion
8 ) Transformers 3
7 ) Hanna
6 ) The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn (in 3D)
5 ) Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (3D)
4 ) Green Lantern (in 3D)
3 ) Immortals (in 3D)
2 ) Super 8
1 ) Hugo Cabret

Honesty time. Not a single movie on this list really interests me much. I groomed the ten I thought had the most potential for either outright goodness or outright laugh-out-loud horribleness (Breaking Dawn).

Sheridan's right about The Thing. And the first time around everyone probably laughed at the idea of a remake so ...

Glad to see I'm not the only one looking at this list and thinking, '2011 is such a terrible fucking year...'

6) Paul
5) The Cabin in the Woods
4) X-Men: First Class
3) Twishite: Breaking Dawn
2) Sherlock Holmes 2
1) Harry Potter 7 1/2 Part 2: Shit Rolls Downhill

I know you want ten, but I refuse. There aren't ten movies on that list I'd be prepared to throw money at. This is the best of a bad bunch. And I can no longer tell if I'm joking about my love for Twilight.

Can't wait for the 2012 list. Early prediction: we all act like dancing monkeys and put 'BATMANBATMANBATMANZOMFGBESTMOVIEEVA' at number one, regardless of what's actually happening on the production.
