Forsooth! Marvel have released a new image from their upcoming big screen version of Thor, giving us our first official look at Thor's father Odin and his conniving brother Loki. Get a full look below:

I don't know if I'm getting more used to the rubbery look since we first saw Thor's costume, but focusing on the designs alone, they look really, really pretty. And as previously indicated, they are really going all out to bring something to the screen that evokes what Thor co-creator Jack Kirby put on paper:

They're still holding out on us with the helmets though. What say you - Thor costumes, yay or nay?

i think they are very kirby-esque and judging from the comics itself they already look very tacky and weird but this is going to work on film. e very good translation, oh and with other lighting it wont look that bright and colourfull anymore.

Thanks for sharing that link humanimal! Yeah, I think anyone who already has a taste for Kirby's work is going to find it easier to get used to these costumes. There's no denying they're garish. But yeah, given the right setting and lighting we may be able to forget how crazy they are.

Yeah that link did help humanimal, thanks. I just hope the costumes don't look to childish. I am not against Disney taking over Marvel Studios. I just hope that doesn't influence them to aim more towards children. I know that they own Miramax, But if they slap the Disney label on their Marvel movies then we might not see films like Kick-Ass or R-rated Marvel flicks. (I'm assuming Kick-Ass is was made under Marvel Studios?)

Kick-Ass was published through Marvel's Icon imprint, which is an imprint that allows the creators to own their work. So basically, Marvel don't reserve the rights and the creators can take their intellectual property and do whatever they want with it. Marvel are essentially distributors of Kick-Ass, it belongs to Mark Millar and John Romita Jr, Marvel Studios had nothing to do with it.

That said, Disney's buyout really hasn't impacted Marvel in any perceptible way. I wouldn't credit them with anything you see unless you're explicitly told otherwise.

Say what you want about the costumes (really, say what you want, it's all true), but do not tell me that set doesn't look amazing.

It reminds me of a microscopic look at what's going on in a rich man's toilet.
