I love the original Godzilla, and I like monster movies, but King Kong, the original Godzilla and Cloverfield all had subtexts. Godzilla especially.

Oh you're totally right. Of those, Kong is my least favorite. The fact that Americans want to make Godzilla is hilarious to me, considering the original subtext. 

If done right, an American Godzilla should really be about the Japanese subverting our economy by making better products! Haha. Alas, it will  probably be meaningless. But that image, my friend, is inarguably awesome.


FYI, despite much opposition, Cloverfield is my favorite monster film, and I contend it's far and away the best film about 9/11.
