I just saw the trailer for The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Firstly, it makes no sense given the timeline of the movies and what the characters were in the films. Secondly, the new terminator is laughably bad, I'm talking straight to dvd hammy villain bad.

Basically it looks like a shit remake of T2 without any brains.

Thats a shame, would've given me some downtime before the 4th film hits the scene, which I'm skeptical about anyway...I'll check out the new episode on monday but I'll probably have the same opinion as you...

Are you kidding?!!! Sara Connor Chronicles kicks ass. Its the freshest thing on tv now. I love the show.
Can you elaborate more on your reasons for not liking it.
You said it makes no sense given the timeline of the movies. Please explain.
Secondly, how is the new terminator laughably bad? What is it doing different here than in the movies?

I wrote that based on the extended trailers and clips that were available at the time. I haven't watched the series. So, perhaps I'm wrong.

But for me, Linda Hamilton, Eddie Furlong and Arnie have been recast as hottie ex-models. Linda Hamilton gave an intense batshit crazy performance and the Sarah they have pales in comparison. Eddie Furlong was an edgy tearaway, this guy looks like the worst thing he ever did was turn up late for a photoshoot. Summer or Arnie? I'm all for girl power, but please.

Terminator 2 really is one of the best films ever made, so perhaps it's an unfair comparison.

As I say, I haven't watched the series though, so I may be way off.

It's the chick from 300 as Sara Connor isn't it? Lena Headey...

Hotness... But I have to agree with Sheridan, I still think Ed Furlong made the John Connor role his own and I was kinda "mneh" about Nick Stahl when he did it despite being a very good actor (see Sin City). Shame he looks like a crack addict these days or he might have still been considered.

Complete sidenote, anyone else seen Pecker apart from me? Good stuff.

Sheridan, do me a favor: watch the show for a couple of weeks and then do a re-post of your assessment.
You have to remember that movies are pretty much once or twice a year things with big budgets and all star casts. With TV, you have a smaller budget, but are able to expand on the storyline over the course of a season and you don't have the major star power.
People shouldn't compare furlong to the new guy or Linda to the new woman. They are different but unique in their own way in what they bring to the screen. For the most part, I feel that they are doing a great job with the series.

Stinkingbob, you know that if you say do it, I do, so I caught the first episode.

Anyone who wants to watch the whole thing (legally) can go here -

Yep, fantastic stuff. The terminator in the episode is a big lumbering cheeseball but he doesn't last long and the whole thing is so fast paced you never get stuck with him. It's inventive, the effects are great and it's arguably more entertaining than T3.

Woah! I've seen up to episode 6 now, and this show just keeps getting better, better and better! Is anyone else keeping ahead of the British broadcasts of the show? They're doing a bang-up job of staying faithful to the original movie where the Terminators are like inconspicuous generic-looking mofos.... good stuff.

Thanks for tuning in to the Sara Connor Chronicles Sheridan!  Honestly,  when a new show comes out with the type of genre that I like, I watch it one season and then make the determination if it is good or bad.  The first episodes usually sets up the characters and story and as each episode is shown, things progress.  Take a look at Flash Gordon on Sci-Fi channel. The first few episodes were stupid. I admit it. But I gave the show a chance and watched more and more and you know, it is not that bad at all. Towards the end, it got really good.  Same with BattleStar Galactica and Journeyman(although that show got cancelled). Some shows you like right off the bat. Some, you have to watch over a period of time.
