'Tron: Legacy' director Joseph Kosinski has another project lined up for the future, a film version of his own graphic novel Oblivion, which hasn't even been released yet. Walt Disney Pictures has bought the film rights to the Radical Publishing book which will be released this Autumn.

The plot is as follows
Quote
The story is set on a future Earth, where civilization lives above the clouds and alien scavengers stalk the irradiated surface below. When a surface drone repairman finds a woman inside a crashed spacepod planetside , it leads him on a journey filled with romance and adventure.

Take a look at these images from the graphic novel, http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/books/rando-ems/Oblivion.pdf, It looks like it will make a pretty spectacular film.

Kosinski must have dreams of becoming the new king of sci-fi (not sure who the old one is).  As well as this and Tron, he also is set to direct the remake of 'The Black Hole', a 1979 Disney film that pioneered visual effects but was largely maligned by critics. It definitely seems like Kosinski has got important friends in high places. Not many first-time directors get entrusted with 2 big budget feature films before their debut has even been released. I guess that means Disney are confident that Tron will be as big for them as they hope.
