There is not much solid news about Ridley Scott upcoming Alien prequel, it doesn’t even have a proper title yet. What we do know is that 20th century Fox has accepted and are very pleased with Damon Lindelof’s first draft screenplay for the film. At this point there is a high level of secrecy surrounding the project, but what we do know is that the film will be set around 35 years before the original Alien. One of the reasons that 20th Century Fox is so pleased with Lindelof’s screenplay is that it would not need a huge budget for them to make it. It has also been suggested that Fox are toying with idea of making Alien with a PG-13 rating in mind and apparently Lindelof’s screenplay fits in with this. There has been no casting news so far but it has just been revealed that Natalie Portman is top of Ridley Scott’s list of potential leads for the film. Also on the list is Noomi Rapace, star of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Whoever eventually takes the role will be playing a Colonial Marine.
Are you excited about the Alien prequel or does it stink of disaster?
