Over a year ago we discussed the potential villains of Wolverine 2 and it’s no surprise to see who’s included above. For the most part, the characters confirmed are expected and are very similar to their roles in the comics with the exception of Viper. The Silver Samurai is the main antagonist for Wolverine to duel with and an important character in Marvel Comics. In the books, he’s a mutant who has the ability to charge objects – this is likely the cause of his electrifying armor in the film.

Other character details aside, Wolverine 2 will undoubtedly explore Wolverine’s growth as a character where he learns to control his rage and attempt starting a new life. In addition to meditation and learning inner-peace, in the comics Logan is able to learn and master many forms of martial arts during the Japanese saga.

Wolverine 2 begins shooting in March for a 2012 Summer release.

Fairly cool. At least setting it in Japan and having Darren Aronofthingy directing it will give it an unusual edge.

Darren Aronofsky on why he's making Wolverine 2 -

A surprisingly amusing man. Who really reminds me of Christian Bale.

Nice find Sheridan. I need to watch more interviews with the guy, he seems like a really good interviewee.

There's a 7 part series on youtube where he and Danny Boyle interview each other. Awesome stuff.

I cannot WAIT for this movie. But I have a feeling it's gonna flop. Folks aren't gonna follow the same actor into what is essentially a reboot. It's too confusing for non film geeks.

I have the feeling him and the studio are going to come to major blows. He keeps suggesting they don't know what he's doing, and they have a history of interfering.

To me, this shows that Aronofsky gets it -

Quote
Jackman - "Darren said with the last one, 'Hey you looked great, but you're so tall that in those long shots you looked kind of like Clint Eastwood, and that's not Wolverine.' He said that Wolverine, in the comics, is powerful, stocky, you know, he's short and thick. So he said, 'I want you to go there, get bigger.'""

I always had a problem with him being turned into traditional leading man.

As did I. dude' is ridiculously tall though, how stocky can he get? He's been ripped in everything. I'd be more hyped for this is The Last Stand, Origins and First Class didn't exist because they will suck and I want to cause harm to all those involved. That said, I expect I'll like The Wolverine. A lot.

If they can make Stallone look tall they can make Jackman look short. It's just a matter of camera angles. I wonder how having Aronofsky direct his physicality will drastically change his performance. SO interested in this project.
