Courtesy of a tweet by Universal Pictures, we have just discovered that the release date for 'The Thing' has been changed to Friday October 14th next year. Originally it was set to be released on April 29th.
Starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, 'The Thing' is a prequel to John Carpenter's remake also titled 'The Thing' (it's all very complicated). Both Carpenter's film and Howard Hawk's 1951 original, 'The Thing from Another World', are considered classics in their own right.
It's never good news when a release date of a film is put back. Even worse when the reason for that change is so that 'Fast 5', the latest edition of the epically retarded 'Fast and Furious' series, can be released on that day instead.
Let's just hope that this doesn't mean they have lost confidence in the film due to it being terrible. Maybe it's ridiculously scary and they are just hoping to cash in on the Halloween audience. Either way, we'll have to wait a little longer to find out.
