David O. Russell is a magnificent director. Mark Wahlberg has done his finest work collaborating with him. The Fighter is O. Russell's new movie. This is the third trailer for that movie. It's a damn good trailer.

I'm a sucker for trailers that play with their sound design like that, have been ever since that awesome trailer for A Serious Man was unleashed, so this really floats my boat. This trailer manages to be way more powerful than the previous two, just by having a little more personality. The Fighter stars Wahlberg as Micky Ward, a boxer who pulls his family out of despair. Amy Adams and a drugged out Christian Bale lookalike co-star. The movie is released December 10th in the US and February 4th in the UK.

Christian Bale is gonna have serious health problems when he's older, the way he keeps piling on muscle and then losing it all again.

Trailer is awesome but I think the film will be something we have seen a 100 times before. On the whole I find sports movies pretty tedious, but as you say, O Russell is a top director so he might be able to make something of it. What's weird about this film is that Mickey Ward is most famous for his epic fight with Arturo Gatti, but that doesn't seem to be a part of the film as there is no Gatti character listed on imdb.

Yeah, Bale must be doing serious damage to his body. He must be pretty careful about it though, he's got enough money to keep good counsel on how to drastically lose and gain weight like that properly. Well, as properly as you can do something that crazy.

I tend to not watch a lot of sports movies (I don't watch any sports whatsoever so it figures) but the ones I do check out are usually pretty good, so I don't really have the same reservations about it based on its genre that you do.
