Here's some news that is sure to rile Tokien purists- Orlando Bloom is set to reprise his role as Legolas in the upcoming film adaptation of The Hobbit even though the character doesn't appear in the book. A deal hasn't been cleared yet, but it seems that it is highly likely to happen and indications are that his part will be more than a mere cameo. Not to be too cynical but could this be a way of luring the young female audiences to see a film they might not have been interested in otherwise? Martin Freeman is a good actor but he's no teen idol. Either that or it shows they are desperately trying to flesh out a story which is unworthy of being made as two films.
Meanwhile, some of the other LOTR actors who do play characters which appear in The Hobbit are yet to agree deals. Hugo Weaving, Andy Serkis and Ian Mckellen are all still deep in talks to return. Hmmm, there's definitely something iffy about The Hobbit. I predict a stinker, actually a pair of stinkers.
