Like the title says, luminaries and former co-stars DeNiro and Pacino will star in Martin Scorsese's forthcoming film The Irishman. The pair will be  joined by Joe Pesci who, like DeNiro, as collaborated with Scorsese frequently in the past.

That's it. That's all the news. But it's enough, right? Scorsese should really cast DiCaprio just to get the whole family together though. Let's take a look at some of Pacino's finest work to get us in the mood for The Irishman:

Oh, you didn't know Al Pacino was in Gigli? That's because NOBODY SAW GIGLI.

Wow Gigli sucks. I think I'm bored of Pacino, seen all of that many times before.

The only watchable movie Scorsese's made since 1997 was The Departed. DeNiro hasn't had a strong performance since 1990. Pacino has a better track record, but his work lately doesn't bode well. The only way I'd be less excited for this movie is if Leonardo "Kiss of Death" DiCaprio was in it.

You thought The Aviator was unwatchable? How is DiCaprio the kiss of death in any sense? Are you on strong medication?

Scorsese is the worst filmmaker who's ever lived.

Yes. The parts I didn't sleep through anyway.

Inception. Shutter Island. Gangs of New York. The Beach.  All poor performances, all the weakest work from great (or formerly great) directors.

I has aware of that.

Aviator was a great movie. Inception wasn't nearly a bad movie, the only issues were the supporting cast not having particularly developed characters and the ridiculous chase through the streets in Arabic land (he tries to get away by stopping and shouting loudly at a diner to let him sit next to him right in their line of sight?).

Inception was a very well crafted film that meant absolutely nothing. It's the heaviest fluff I've ever seen and easily Nolan's worst film. By no means a disaster, since Nolan is uber talented but he's showing signs of peaking, particularly when he went on the record saying he couldn't picture anyone but Leo in the role of Dom Cobb, even though Dom Cobb is the most boring, vanilla, paint-by-numbers action hero ever. Unless he has his brother infuse his work with emotion, his films are cold and lifeless.

Aviator is pretty, nothing more. Dullsville biopic.
