You may not have heard it here first, but you heard it here best, the villains for The Dark Knight Rises (aka, Christopher Nolan presents Batman 3) are: Anne Hathaway as Catwoman Casting session. Tom Hardy as Bane He's gonna be brutal. For those of you less in the comic-book know, Bane is the infamous villain who broke Batman's back and forced him into an early retirement. With Nolan's increasingly darker direction for this franchise is this same scenario a potential cap for this trilogy? Will we get Darren Aronofsky's Batboy follow-up trilogy in years to come? Post your thoughts below cause they're bound to be better than mine. Source: Hero Complex

the buzz on twitter is that people aren't pleased with Hathaway as Catwoman. I think she'll do alright.

I didn't exactly call it, but I came pretty damn close. I'm just glad Nolan's doing Catwoman, everyone seemed convinced he wouldn't and I really wanted him to. And Bane seems like much a cooler character than Hugo Strange, especially for Tom Hardy.

It all depends on his take on Catwoman. If he's mimicking Michelle Pfeifer by using Anne Hathaway, he's failed. But something tells me he has an intersting take on her.

Why would he mimic Michelle Pfieffer? That was awful.

I was illustrating a point, but setting a bar of quality. But agreed, awful. In terms of story. Kinda liked the suit.

Ha ha, Bane. I love how totally wrong EVERY movie site has been.
Do we need another version of Catwoman? No. I hope it's a pretty radical reinvention. Anne Hathaway is, on reflection, a decent choice given the alternatives auditioned.
Bane. How the hell are they going to do that one? I guess he cast Tom Hardy early so he can start working out. He's famous for breaking Batman's back, so I guess that could well tie into the end of the trilogy. "Michael Caine fetch my cane."
Oh dear, look at the picture the LA Times chose of Hathaway. Why not just take a picture through a window of her getting dressed? Ridiculous.

Hell yes we need 'another' version of Catwoman, because we need a halfway decent version of Catwoman. Ehh, it's okay to like Michelle Pfieffer *in* the suit. To like the suit from a design/character perspective is questionable. Don't think I'm getting all nerdrage or anything, I think Pfieffer's suit was better than this crap: But then Bane looked better in Batman and Robin than he does there. On a somewhat related note, I'm a decade late on the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon thing and Michelle Pfieffer is the most removed actress I could find.

Oh totally agree. Pfeifer IN the cat suit.
And for the record, Tim Burton's Batman films suck. I bought the first one out of nostalgia, popped it in the dvd player, and couldn't believe how dated it was. And BORING.

I was never that keen on the original Batman, even at the time. Batman Returns is very different movie, from the way it's shot (far better) to the darkly comic tone. It seems everyone here thinks Michelle's Catwoman was shit, I completely disagree. And De Vito's Penguin is amazing, he's just let down by a plot that has him sprouting 20 different plans instead of one grand one. Hearing the amazing Christopher Walken promise the Penguin "unlimited poontang" in a family movie, it doesn't get any better than that. Scenes like this are atmospheric genius - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eU8Y3DxzImA

Pfeifer's Catwoman was a lot of fun and fit Burton's universe, I just don't like his universe that much. Within those confines she works great and the suit looked great, but I dislike the silliness-factor overall. Just depends on what criteria you're judging with.

I agree with DJaws here. Again. Well, that's enough for one month, time to watch Shutter Island.
