Cobie Smulders, Canadian actress and star of hit TV show How I Met Your Mother, has been cast in The Avengers. Smulders will be playing Maria Hill, a character with a relatively short history in comic book terms, created by Brian Micheal Bendis just six years ago. A high-ranking SHIELD agent, Hill will presumably be a sidekick of sorts to Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury, and help out Scarlett Johansson in the representing girls department, filling Whedon's ass-kicking ladies quota.

Any Smulders fans care to weigh in on how she might handle the role of a superspy and the Whedonean banter with SLJ?

I watched her being interviewed on one of the major chat shows, she was a total idiot.
Doesn't mean she can't act though.

I'll have you know acting requires a great deal of intelligence, Mr Passell. A great deal of intelligence.

Acting takes nerves. There are different types of actors. Some are highly intelligent, some are desperately insecure and need the approval in an unhealthy way, some are so dumb that's why they don't feel embarrassed.

That sounds like the opening line of a memoir. Or a comedy movie.
