‘Zombieland’ was definitely one of the big surprises for me when it was released just over a year ago. The trailer had suggested that all we could expect was an unfunny rip-off of ‘Shaun of the Dead’. However it turned out to be completely different from that film and just as funny in its own way. Who could fail to be charmed by Tallahassee’s (Woody Harrelson) desperate hunt for a Twinky? And don’t forget, the film contained possibility the greatest cameo in the history of cinema!
The critical and commercial success of ‘Zombieland’ immediately spawned the possibility of a sequel. Director Ruben Fleischer confirmed that he might be interested in making another one as did some members of the cast. However, plans for a sequel have just hit a stumbling block as Woody Harrelson has come out and said he’s not too fond of the idea. He said:
"I'm sure it will happen if everyone does it, but I'm not sure it's the right thing to do. It's one thing to do it when it came out real good and it made a lot of people laugh, but then to do a sequel... 99 out of 100 are worse by a lot. So I don't know... I don't feel like a sequels guy."
I’m with Woody, it’s hard to see where they could take a sequel here. Leave this one be Hollywood.
