Yes its a shameless riff on Sheridan's top 10 Misguided Singing Careers by Actors but i feel its justified in a world where 'artist' from the world of music don' think that making a tonne of cash warbling for a living is enough that they decide they are going to treat us to their 'skills' as an actor as well. Ladies and Gents i give you my top five most misguided attempts at acting from a singer.

5. Debbie Gibson - Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus
Granted this was never aiming to be anything other than ridiculous but the former pint size pop-tart is so bad delivering lines like "It didn't matter how rough or stormy or how big the waves were, they never scared me" that her co-stars look positively embarrassed for her.

4. Sting - Dune
Any film that Sting was luck enough to appear in pretty much resulted in box office death, yes i know he was in Lock Stock and two Smoking Barrels but that succeeded in spite of him not because of him. Its his 'performance' in Dune that really stands out, looking like a guy who turned up at a dinner party dressed as Herpes and as about as comfortable as a dose of it in every scene. Stick to making the dough with soundtracks there Gordon there's a good lad.

3. Britney Spears - Crossroads
I don't actually mind Ms Spears, some of her music is pretty good to get your rocks off to and that's really where she should've stayed but alas she seemed determined to show us her acting chops in 2002 movie Crossroads. In all fairness it should've been a slam dunk for her, it was aimed squarely at her fans and featured a Britney that everyone should've been able to root for. So what went wrong? well, in a word, Britney Spears, OK that's two but you know what i mean, she simply cannot act and then by destroying her sweet and innocent persona halfway through the movie by shagging some random dude, in one fell swoop she not only alientates her core audience but destroys any credibility she had. Guess that's why we haven't seen another Spears movie since, for which i am eternally grateful.

2. Madonna - Swept Away
The Queen of Pop has been trying to thesp it up for years now with such 'classic's as Body of Evidence and Dick Tracy and yes i know all about Evita but that simply does not make up for the drivel that is Swept Away or the cringeworthy scene in Die Another Day where even Mr Brosnan looked like he was both shake and stirred. Sorry.

1. Mick Jagger - Freejack
Sure Mick's popped up in more recent fair like The Bank Job and Enigma (both uncredited) but its the Sci-Fi debacle that is quite simply the most awful attempt at acting that a singer has ever done, with dialogue spat out like a Microsoft Auto-translator, Jagger as baddie Vacendak oozes so little charisma or nasty that you actually start to feel sorry for him, like oh please let him win, he looks like he'll cry otherwise. "Get the Meat" Jagger cries at one sorry stage and indeed its the only time i think i ever agreed with him.
