Im sure its just me but i really don't see the point of tablets, especially the ipad, to me it looks like a giant version of the itouch but what's the point of them? I'd rather have a laptop that i can close the lid on to protect the screen and open up and adjust my viewing angle without having to bring along a separate stand.
Also, i like that my laptop has built in USB sockets like but with the ipad i have to BUY an adapter to do this and its nice to be able to actually cable connect my laptop to an ethernet cable for speedy internet access not just have Wi-Fi only. Yeah amazing, what a piece of kit.

Sure it's a large iPod touch, but would you say a bath is the same as a swimming pool? Couple of my friends have it, one uses it in his physio job to show things to patients. You don't need a stand, you're always holding it, if you want to sit at a table and watch something just stick a book behind it. The screen is extremely tough and none have a scratch on them. You don't actually need a usb for anything, what would you want it for? It's a consumption device rather than a production device. It's not designed to replace the laptop, it's something you get after you already have a laptop. A decent wi-fi is as fast as ethernet. The one major problem it does have is no flash which limits the web surfing experience. Socially it's great, if someone's talking about a topic being able to instantly (no start-up) have the youtube video or picture, or wiki page and pass it around, it's not something you do on a laptop. Once you've used it for a few hours you'll get it. I predict you'll own one within 5 years and love it.

Seems crazy quick to bring out an improved version. I'd be upset if I bought the old one.

It's hardly changed from the previous version, it's a third thinner (not like the old one was too thick), fractionally lighter, and apparently faster but we'll see how many developers make apps that can only work on the latest ipad - not many I'd say, the old one was fast enough.

Yeah i hear what you're saying mate but for me they're a gimmick at best. i Can see a use like your friend but for me i just don't see what use it could be. I appreciate its not there to replace a laptop but if im out and i need something on me that can access the internet (instant loading or not), read, make notes etc then I'm not going to take my laptop and a tablet its going to be one that can do everything i need it for which is a laptop. Why take two bottles into the shower when you only need one? 

Haha and If i own an ipad/tablet within five years then its been given to me by some loon with too much money

Agree on the comment about bringing out version 2 so quickly, its Apple all over though all they want to do is fleece their customers at every opportunity.
