Darren Aronofsky, acclaimed director of The Wrester, Black Swan, and The Fountain (the last of which starred Hugh Jackman) has left his franchise psuedo-reboot, The Wolverine, stating that it would require too much time overseas.

Aronofsky is "offered" the job.

This is an interesting turn of events for an already strange project ... since the X-Men franchise has been running out of steam due to a lackluster installment from Bret Ratner (X3) and a jaw-dropping abomination from Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine). Aronofsky's involvement in a "reboot" that would ignore all story continuity from the previous films seemed risky yet exciting based on his credentials. Now, depending on who takes over the reins, this is starting to feel like another slop in the X-Men bucket.

A premonition of McG at the helm.

Thoughts? Who would YOU like to see take over as director?

Whoever they are, I hope they wear a scarf HALF so well as this.

Old Chinese proverb say 'The Swan Stronger Than The Rat, But The Rat Likes To Travel'.

Totally dis agree thought it was the best of any XMEN movie that has been made it held more true to the comics than any other and for that alone it deserves respect!

Hey this is why we love movies, you can't please all the people all the time etc but Wolverine:Origins sucked like a bagless vacuum cleaner, everything from the awful CGI, crawler paced camera work and the outrageous misuse of the characters powers that he is supposed to have was just poor, it reeked of someone who picked up some copies of the comics in his local store, its continuity was all over the place and lets not even start with the gross under representation of the supporting characters.

On story though i think they should go for another wild card like Duncan Jones

I thought X-Men Origins: Wolverine was ok. Not great, but nowhere near as bad as everyone else on the site says.

I understand twistedmango that is why we love them and the use of powers was lacking and Sheridan I agree with you while it wasn't the greatest movie of all time it does deserve some respect. And Ducan Jones not so sure maybe Havoc at least with him they could delve into the back story of Cyclops throw in Vulcan and its a full on family reunion. Even bring in Polaris and Mister Sinister. Or you know whatever.

I guess my level of disappointment with Origins was because he's one of the characters that i can properly get on board with and felt let down by the lack of depth to his character especially when its was supposed to be all about him but hey ho thats filmland

So anyone else have a Director they'd like to see tackle ole' mutton chops?
