Darren Aronofsky, acclaimed director of
The Wrester,
Black Swan, and
The Fountain (the last of which starred Hugh Jackman) has left his franchise psuedo-reboot,
The Wolverine, stating that it would require too much time overseas.
Aronofsky is "offered" the job. This is an interesting turn of events for an already strange project ... since the X-Men franchise has been running out of steam due to a lackluster installment from Bret Ratner (
X3) and a jaw-dropping abomination from Gavin Hood (
X-Men Origins: Wolverine). Aronofsky's involvement in a "reboot" that would ignore all story continuity from the previous films seemed risky yet exciting based on his credentials. Now, depending on who takes over the reins, this is starting to feel like another slop in the X-Men bucket.
A premonition of McG at the helm.Thoughts? Who would YOU like to see take over as director?
Whoever they are, I hope they wear a scarf HALF so well as this.Source:
