Bryan Cranston is set to play the villain in Len Wiseman's upcoming remake of Total Recall. The actor is best known for his work in television, playing Malcolm's dad Hal in 'Malcolm in the Middle' and the drug dealing Chemistry teacher Walter White in 'Breaking Bad'.  Cranston will face off against Colin Farrell, who is set to play the lead. Whereas the 1990 ‘Total Recall’ stuck quite closely to the Philip K Dick Source material, ‘We Can Remember It for You Wholesale’, the new film will be quite different.  The new story involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy. Cranston will play Vilos Cohaagen, the leader of Euromerica who, under the cover of protecting his people, is secretly readying an invasion of New Shanghai.

The original 'Total Recall' is somewhat of a cult classic- or at least it was before it was shown to death by ITV2.  Containing memorable moments such as the woman with three breasts and the inflating head scene at the end, it’s certainly one of Arnie’s better films. That film was directed by the great Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven. This new one is being directed by Len Wiseman, a by the numbers Hollywood director, so there’s little hope that it will be anything more than quite entertaining. But hey, sometimes that’s enough, right?

He was painfully underused in The Lincoln Lawyer ... can't wait to see him with a juicy movie role. His work in Breaking Bad is award-worthy.

His work in Malcolm in the Middle was award-worthy. But yes, BrBa too.

I'd forgotten how good Malcolm in the Middle was until I caught a few episodes the other day. Great show.

Malcolm was great, and Power Rangers was cool too.

And that was an awesome link.
