After igniting an online race war with his last movie, M Night Shyamalan is hooking up with Hollywood's two most bankable African American stars - Will & Jaden Smith. The movie is a sci-fi in which a father and son return to the remnants of Earth a thousand years after it has been abandoned by humanity.
Jaden Smith has been attached for a while, but the addition of his father is a major development. And it's interesting - Shyamalan has made a few movie that some would describe as unwatchable. Whilst at the very least, Will Smith is watchable, even in lesser fare. This is unstoppable force, immovable object territory - will it be the long-awaited return-to-Unbreakable-form Shyamalan apologists have waited for, or the first real failure of Will Smith? Neither seem likely...what do you expect?
Whatever the case, we're getting another original big-budget sci-fi from a talented director, of which seem to be countless in the pipeline (Rian Johnson's Looper, Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity, Ridley Scott's Prometheus, Neill Blompkamp's Elysium, Joseph Kosinski's Oblivion...all one word titles, huh), and as far as I'm concerned, the more the merrier. The Shyamalan movie has dropped it's One Thousand AE title - what one-word moniker would you give it to fit in with the crowd? My vote is for something enigmatic like 'Aftermath'.
