Keanu Reeves is making a Samurai movie, based on a historical tale, called 47 Ronin. It's going to be directed by Carl Rinsch, who made this piece of awesomeness:
Here's what Reeves had to say:
It's in 3D, it's a kind of Western, I call it a story of revenge and impossible love. These Samurai: their lord is usurped, has to commit seppuku. The Samurai become Ronin, getting outcast, and then they decide to enact revenge on the person that they feel is responsible for the death of their lord. and I play an outsider, a kind of half-breed, with a mysterious past, who is in love with the princess.
I have HIGH hopes for this one, based on very little: the inherent coolness of Samurai, the nascent talents of a cool director, and the abundant affection I have for
post-meme Keanu Reeves, who was awesome in Bill & Ted, Speed and The Matrix, and against whom I will hear nothing bad said.
