I was lucky enough to be invited to the premier of my mate Rob Holder's film Eliminate: Archie Cookson in the Bristol UK last night

Here's the trailer

Me and my missus

A great night and the film itself is a terrific throwback to the 70's spy thriller but with a modern edge.
It was officially selected to show as only one of three feature screenings at this years Minghella Film Festival. I will keep you posted on when it picks up distribution etc.

Thanks mate, it was shot for just under $1m here in Bristol. The artwork was done by James Price who did the VFX for the film, he also kindly did the VFX on my last short too.

They're taking it to Canne in a couple of weeks so fingers crossed that goes well for them. Hows things going with your projects?

It's Archie ... the spy. Yes, I'm still doomed.

BRILLIANT line. The entire trailer is chock full of clever moments and great camera angles, looks like a blast.

My projects are in perpetual post production. The one I directed is creeping closer, should have a solid cut this weekend then off to sound mixing while I experiment with VFX (if you have anyone who can give me pointers on muzzle flare, let me know!)

The one I wrote and acted in is back to square one. We paid a guy to edit it and he did two passes then disappeared, so I'm going to have to go back to the raw footage and start from scratch, so that one won't be ready for a LONG while.

The other that I wrote and a friend directed turned out so poorly he doesn't want anyone to see it. Joy. I've seen a couple moments and talked to the actress who starred in it (who happens to be my writing partner) and holy crap, the shoot was a fiasco. The film was directed so poorly it feels like a surreal dark comedy when it was written as a straight forward mystery/thriller.

So, out of the three we filmed, one should be great, the other alright but not done for a while, the third unwatchable.  Hooray.

I'll pass that on,glad you like the trailer, its got lines like that sprinkled through it, the comedy is very clever, subtle but so well paced, it was, without being too much of a fanboy here, a genuine pleasure to watch. I believe its going to get a limited theatrical run in the UK but hopefully that will change and it will go wide. I think they're at the point now where its a decision on whether to put it into more festivals, go straight to DVD or push for theatrical distribution, a lot will depend on Canne i guess but its all very exciting  Smiley

Thats cool on the one you directed pal, what is the title/genre? what are your plans for it once you've done the final cut?

Well at least you have control over the footage and can dive back in to the edit, but what a blimming charlatan that editor! i cant believe he bailed on you, outrageous and so unprofessional.

Shame about the last one, i guess that will have to be put down  to a learning experience. Good to hear that your writing is actually getting made though mate. Keep me posted on any progress too buddy.

From that premiere photo I think it's clear we've found our next James Bond.

The rocket launcher fx in the trailer are incredible. Wish I had the balls to go for it and direct a full length feature in the UK. How does someone go about raising $1 million for an indie?

Hahaha thanks mate, not sure I'll be getting the call from Babs quite yet though.

You should do mate, as you well know its the script thats the key but as long as you have something commercial, then just put together an investment pack and shop it around, i can help there if you like, but things like getting interest from 'named' actors etc with a letter of intent.
