Danny Boyle to helm heist film 'Trance'

Anybody who thought Danny Boyle would rest on his laurels after winning Oscars for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and Oscar nominations for ‘127 Hours’ was badly mistaken. If anything it seems to have spurred him on!

The director is currently busy with his stage production of ‘Frankenstein’ and next year he will be in charge of the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.  As if that wasn’t enough, Boyle has just announced that he is set to shoot a thriller called ‘Trance’ in between the two previously mentioned projects, this September.  The plot details of the film are unknown other than that it is about an art heist gone wrong. Stylistically it will be akin to Boyle’s early films, namely ‘Shallow Grave’ and ‘Trainspotting’.  The director plans to shoot the film and then shelve it whilst he works on the Olympics. Next August, he'll return to the film, and cut it with the anticipation that ‘Trance’ will be ready for theatrical distribution in March 2013. After having produced Boyle’s last two films, Christian Colson will continue his creative partnership with the director for this film. The budget for the film will be similar to that of the director’s previous two films- ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ cost a meager $15 million to make, while ‘127 Hours’ cost a modest $18 million. Together they grossed around $450 million. As well as being one of the most critically acclaimed directors in the industry, Boyle is also one of the most bankable.
