'Thor 2' release date and villains

It’s official, ‘Thor’ is a hit. Whilst movie-moron has been split in furious debate over the merits of the movie, the $344 million it has taken worldwide (when last checked) cannot be argued with.  On the back of that success, Marvel are keen to get cracking on with the sequel and have already marked the summer of 2013 as their target release date. All you statistic geeks out there will spot straight away that that is the same summer which’ Iron Man 3’ is scheduled for release. It certainly seems Marvel are keen to keep us on their conveyer belt of superhero spectacle, for in between now and then we've also got ‘Captain America’, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and of course ‘The Avengers’ to look forward to.

As well as the release date, Marvel are also talking about possible villains. Anyone who saw Thor will know that the ending left a good set-up for the sequel; with Thor and his love interest Jane worlds apart. One of the villains that’s being suggested is a powerful Asgardian sorceress named The Enchantress. In the comics her first appearance involved an attempt to take out Thor’s love interest in order to have him all to herself; which would fit neatly with the aforementioned unresolved ending of the first film. Another name which has popped up is a character called The Executioner. He’s a warrior who’s love with The Enchantress, and she manipulates him into doing her dirty work. So basically we’re looking at a classic love square.
